How INDILA’s Virtual Private School Works

INDILA delivers a flexible, self-paced virtual private school experience supported by certified teachers, structured curriculum, and individualized academic plans. Students learn from home, or anywhere with internet, while receiving ongoing guidance, feedback, and support.

——  Personalized online learning

A Virtual School With Real Structure

INDILA’s curriculum is asynchronous: students work through lessons on their own schedule, and live instructional sessions are the exception, not the rule. Here is how the model works day to day.

⌂

Students learn remotely

From home, or anywhere with a reliable internet connection.

◎

Coursework lives online

Lessons, assignments, grades, and messages are all in INDILA’s secure learning platforms.

⇄

Lessons follow an individualized plan

Each student’s courses, pacing, and goals are set in a personalized academic plan.

✎

Teachers guide and give feedback

Certified teachers grade work, answer questions, and keep families informed.

◷

Flexibility within expectations

Students choose when to work each day while meeting clear weekly goals.

——  What students experience

Five Things Every INDILA Student Can Count On

01

Learning at their own pace

Students move through lessons at the speed that fits them. A student who needs more time with fractions gets it. A student who has mastered a unit moves on without waiting for the class.

02

Support from real teachers

Every course has a certified teacher behind it. Students submit work, receive specific feedback, and can message their teacher with questions.

03

A clear path to success

Weekly goals and a visible pacing guide mean students always know what is expected this week and how they are progressing toward the end of the course.

04

Flexibility for life outside school

Athletics, the arts, travel, family commitments, and health needs can all fit around coursework that is available every day, not only during a bell schedule.

05

A personalized academic plan

Placement, course selection, pacing, and goals are set for each student at enrollment and revisited as the student grows.

◷

Time commitment

On average, students should expect to spend about one hour per day per course. Because INDILA is self-paced and asynchronous, actual time varies based on the student’s age, learning style, and the complexity of each module. No two students follow exactly the same schedule.

——  What teachers do

Certified Teachers Are Behind Every Course

INDILA teachers are responsible for instruction and academic oversight. Here is what that includes.

✎

Provide feedback on assignments

Specific comments that help students understand what to improve.

✓

Grade student work

Teacher-graded assignments and assessments, recorded in the student information system.

◔

Monitor pacing and progress

Teachers watch each student’s pace against their plan and act early.

✉

Communicate regularly with families

Progress updates and open lines of communication with parents.

↗

Offer intervention or acceleration

Extra support when a student falls behind and more challenge when a student is ready.

——  Your role as a parent or guardian

You Are the Learning Coach, Not the Teacher

Parents and guardians serve as a coach, helping their child stay organized, motivated, and on track. Teaching, grading, and school records are INDILA’s responsibility.

Parent and guardian responsibilities

✓  Encourage productive daily learning routines
✓  Monitor pacing and progress in the parent view
✓  Help your student stay organized
✓  Support assignment completion
✓  Communicate with teachers as needed

Younger students usually need more hands-on coaching each day. Middle and high school students are expected to take on more responsibility for their own schedule and work. In the parent view you can monitor progress against required assignments and see real-time grades and test scores.

——  Frequently asked questions

Questions Parents Ask First

What grades does INDILA serve?

INDILA enrolls full-time students in grades K–12 across Indiana.

Is INDILA really tuition-free?

Tuition is fully covered for most Indiana families through the Choice Scholarship and INDILA’s internal financial aid. Families enrolling outside state windows may pay tuition temporarily until the next Choice window opens. Our admissions team will explain how the scholarship and financial aid apply to your family before you enroll.

Do students have teachers?

Yes. Certified teachers provide instruction, feedback, and support in every course. INDILA is a school, not simply a library of online courses.

How much parent involvement is required?

Parents and guardians act as learning coaches and help guide daily learning. You help your student keep a routine, stay organized, and finish assignments, and you stay in touch with teachers. Parents can also monitor their student’s progress against required assignments and see real-time grades and test scores. INDILA’s teachers are responsible for instruction and grading.

How much time should my student spend on schoolwork each day?

On average, students should expect to spend about one hour per day per course. Because INDILA is self-paced and asynchronous, actual time varies with the student’s age, learning style, and the complexity of each module.

What technology is required?

A computer or laptop and a reliable internet connection. Chromebooks are supported. Tablets can be used but are not ideal for daily coursework. INDILA does not provide this equipment, so families will need to source it independently. A few technology courses have additional device requirements, which admissions will share with you.

How do I enroll?

Start by requesting enrollment information. An admissions representative will follow up, confirm Choice Scholarship eligibility, and guide you through the enrollment form and required documents. Submitting the short inquiry does not complete enrollment.
