—— What the program is
A State Scholarship for Private School Tuition
Indiana’s Choice Scholarship Program, commonly referred to as the voucher program, provides scholarships to eligible Indiana students in grades K–12 to offset tuition costs at participating private schools. It is administered by the Indiana Department of Education under Indiana Code 20-51.
Participating schools must be accredited, administer the statewide assessment, and follow the program’s rules. INDILA is a Cognia-accredited private school and a participating Choice school.

Why it matters for INDILA families
An accredited private school, without the tuition bill. The scholarship is applied directly to INDILA tuition for eligible students, and INDILA’s internal financial aid covers the difference.*
Simpler than it sounds. INDILA submits the application and communicates with the state. You provide the documents.
Open to more families than ever. With no income requirement for 2026–2027, eligibility comes down to residency and age.
—— Tuition and financial aid
Published Tuition Is $10,000 per Year. Most Indiana Families Pay $0.
If your family qualifies for the Choice Scholarship, the state scholarship covers a significant portion of tuition. INDILA provides additional internal financial aid to cover the remaining difference, so tuition is fully covered for eligible Indiana students.
Families who enroll outside of the state’s Choice Scholarship application windows may be responsible for tuition until the next window opens. INDILA offers payment plans during this period. Some families may also choose to pay tuition out-of-pocket rather than apply for the Choice Scholarship.
Our admissions team will help you determine eligibility and walk you through all available funding options.

—— How it works at INDILA
INDILA and Your Family Complete the Application Together
You do not apply to the state yourself. Here is the sequence once you have chosen INDILA.
1
Enroll at INDILA
Complete INDILA’s enrollment process and provide the eligibility documents to the school.
2
INDILA submits the application
Choice applications are submitted by the participating school through the state’s secure system. Families do not apply to the state directly.
3
The state reviews and approves
When approved, INDILA gives you a copy of the award letter showing the estimated scholarship amount. Keep it for your records.
▤
Required documentation
Families typically need to provide:
✓ Proof of Indiana residency (for example, a utility bill, lease, or mortgage statement)
✓ Student’s birth certificate or other approved proof of age
✓ Prior school records or transcripts, if applicable
Income documentation is no longer required for 2026–2027. INDILA’s enrollment team will tell you exactly which documents apply to your student.

—— Frequently asked questions
Scholarship Questions, Answered
Is INDILA really tuition-free?
Tuition is fully covered for most Indiana families through the Choice Scholarship and INDILA’s internal financial aid. Families enrolling outside state windows may pay tuition temporarily until the next Choice window opens. Our admissions team will explain exactly how the scholarship and financial aid apply to your family before you enroll.
What happens if we enroll outside a Choice Scholarship application window?
INDILA accepts enrollment inquiries year-round, but the state only accepts Choice Scholarship applications during its two application periods. Families who enroll outside those windows may be responsible for tuition until the next window opens. INDILA offers payment plans during this period, and admissions will walk you through the options before you commit to anything.
Can we pay tuition instead of applying for the scholarship?
Yes. Some families choose to pay tuition out-of-pocket rather than apply for the Choice Scholarship. Admissions can explain how that works for your family.
Do I apply for the scholarship myself?
No. The participating school submits the Choice Scholarship application through the Indiana Department of Education’s system. You provide the required documents to INDILA, and INDILA handles the submission and state communication.
Is there an income limit?
Not for the 2026–2027 school year. Indiana eliminated the Choice Scholarship household income requirement and the former eligibility pathways beginning with the 2026–2027 school year. Eligibility now depends on Indiana residency and the student’s age.
Can my child enroll mid-year?
Families can apply for a second-semester start. Choice Scholarship applications submitted in the state’s second application period receive a half-year award, provided the student remains enrolled through the end of the school year. Admissions will confirm current dates and start options with you.
Does INDILA accept students statewide?
Yes. Any Indiana resident in grades K–12 who meets the state’s requirements may apply.
What is the difference between the Choice Scholarship and other Indiana scholarship programs?
The Choice Scholarship Program is the state program commonly called the voucher program, authorized under Indiana Code 20-51. It is separate from scholarships offered through scholarship-granting organizations and from other state education programs. INDILA’s tuition-free positioning refers to the Choice Scholarship Program.
